Skipping Classes

At Westwood, there are 2 main options for students who do not wish to take a course at Westwood: Austin Community College and UT High School. For example, if a student skips AP US History at either place, then they do not have to take it during the school day and can take another class or an off block instead. This site will compare both options. If you need help deciphering some of my vocabulary, go to this page.

Price

Summary: UT High School is more expensive.

At ACC, students can take any 10 courses for free (excluding costs such as textbooks), which is more than a student could ever want, but after the first 10, each additional course costs between $250-$300. UT High School courses cost $260-$275, with additional optional fees (course extensions, etc.).

Courses at ACC are not self-paced, unlike UT High Shool. At UT High School, students have 140 days to complete semester long course, whereas in ACC, students have only a few weeks to complete year-long course, with late points taken off for assignments turned in late. Additioanlly, UT High School has a larger variety of courses.

Verdict

UT High School is better, if you are willing to pay more.
