Science

Note: These are just recommendations. There are many science courses at Westwood that become available to students in sophomore year. The full list can be found here.

At Westwood, science has both many and few course options. I would recommend taking the advanced option as science at Westwood is easy, as long as you take notes.

In freshman year (9th Grade), students should take Adv. Biology (Known to students as Bio), for it is a very easy course, just like Adv. Chemistry.

In sophomore year (10th Grade), students should take Adv. Chemistry (known to students as Chem). Students commonly take AP Physics I alongside Chemistry so they can take AP Physics C junior year, completing the AP Physics pathway in time for college. Students can take on-level Chemistry or Integrated Physics and Chemistry, but this site would not recommend doing this.

In junior year (11th Grade), students can take/continue AP Physics (one of the courses mentioned above), AP Bio, AP Chem, or AP Environmental Science (Known to students as APES) depending on their interests. If students are in IB, this site recommends tkaing IB Physics.

In senior year (12th Grade), students can take any of the mentioned junior year courses.
