English

There are very few options for english courses at Westwood. I would recommend taking the advanced/AP/TAG option because the on-level option will leave a bad impact on GPA and depending on the teacher, the advanced class can be very easy, with students even doing work for other classes during the time. I would not recommend taking AP English, because it is extra work and can leave a negative impact on your GPA.

In 9th Grade, students should take English I Adv./TAG

In 10th Grade, students should take English II Adv./TAG.

In 11th Grade (If they are not taking IB), students should take Dual Credit English III.

In 11th Grade (if they are taking IB), students should take Literature I IB (TAG if possible).

In 12th Grade (if they are not taking IB), students should take Dual Credit English IV or AP English Literature (Senior year GPA does not count for college applications).

In 12th Grade (if they are taking IB), students should take Literature II IB (TAG if possible).
